I really need help finding a good health insurance option. I started my own company in 2009 and have kept it active and grew it slowly ever since. I was, until recently, employed at a large bank where I had good health and dental benefits. I recently left the job to take my business full time and scale it up. I am doing that full time now and it's been about a month since I left my job. I elected to keep my dental insurance through COBRA, because it will only cost me about $23/month. However, to keep my health insurance through COBRA would cost me almost $500/month and I felt that was too much. I have read all the paperwork and believe that I can still elect COBRA for my health insurance for about another month. They give you 60 days from your last day. However, I believe there has to be a better/more affordable option. I am 26 years old and healthy, but God forbid anything ever happened, I want to be covered. Also, if my girlfriend ever got pregnant and I had a child, I would want to be able to sleep at night knowing that I have the health insurance for this. What are my options here? Are there good companies out there that are more affordable than the $450+/month I would have to pay if I kept the United Healthcare plan that I had at my previous job? All advice is appreciated. As I'm MTF (Male-to-female) Transsexual, have been on hormones for several years and will probably go for SRS (sex reassignment surgery) in the future, I could easily get a letter stating that my predominant gender is female. In New York State, this is apparently all that is required to change the gender marker on one's driver's license. http://rnytg.org/dmv.html Now my question is the following; I just haven't bothered with changing the marker on my license yet as it seems like a hassle and I don't think it's really necessary at the moment. However, my dad wants to gift me a car at the end of the week. For this car, I'm going to want an insurance policy. I'm currently 20 years old, and I'm very much aware that insurance policies are MUCH more expensive for young male drivers as opposed to young female drivers . Thus, I ask, is the gender the insurance company uses linked to my driver's license or some other form of ID (as I really can't change anything else, save my passport on a temporary basis yet). If I got the marker changed, would my quote decrease (I would probably go with USAA as I'm eligible given my dad is a Navy Vet)? Thanks!

I moved to California from Nashville almost 3 years ago. I live with my girlfriend and her family. I am not related to them and I have to apply for insurance. In their household, she has a father, mother, 2 sisters and a niece. I don't have a job right now, but I did work and had two jobs and earned my own income. So when applying for insurance, and I want to apply for myself do I have to add them to the household. I was rear ended a few months back and had no insurance?

Me and my wife and a friend were driving in california and we were rear ended we pulled over and so did the other people. I looked at our car and there was no visible damage. i took pictures to show. and the guy who hit us had major front end damage he just wanted to drive away and get no information but we took his info so he asked for ours. four months later i get a letter from the dmv saying he is coming after me for insurance to pay him for the damages . i am assuming he is lying and said i hit him or something but i have two witnesses who saw everything my wife even had a ****** up neck problem for a while and still does but we didnt want to go to the hospital because of the no insurance thing. i was hired for a job at a dealership but cant get my salesperson license because of this and my license will be suspended next month what do i do to fix this whole mess. and if i can be lucky come out of this with some money because he is lying through his neck to attack me. I had a perfect driving record as well.

I have a 1999 Honda Accord , Fair condition, 124,000 miles. I am paying aprox 1500 per year for my plan. I am 26 with some points . Last Ticket was in Jan 2005 speeding, one other ticket in 2004. Clean since then. One accident that was not my fault. Should I drop my collison and does anyone have an idea on what a typical plan would run me?
